Troy, PA Brookside Stock Farm Fire, Aug 1893

The Brookside stock-farm buildings at Troy, Pa., owned by George O. Holcomb, were totally destroyed by fire a few nights ago. The fire started at 9:13 o'clock, and the house and four barns were completely burned in 45 minutes. It is thought that the fire was of incendiary origin. Sixteen valuable horses, including a $1,000 cold, and a valuable blooded bull were burned, as were also 5,000 bushels of grain and a large quantity of hay. The loss will exceed $50,000, and is only partially covered by insurance.
