SHAMOKIN MILL BURNS

Seven Horses in Livery Stable Adjacent Die in Flames

Special to the Inquirer.

SHAMOKIN, Pa., Oct. 25 - Fire of unknown origin early today broke out in the flour and feed mill of Theodore Heck, the building and contents, along with William Holsbue's livery stable and the office of and homes of William Eddy, Newton Eddy, Charles Snyder and George Tillet, being destroyed.

Seven horses of Heck were burned to death. Total loss $40,000.

Oliver Burkett, past master of the local lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, a well known member of the Elks and prominent Republican, hurrying to the fire, dropped dead from heart disease.

Shortly before the blaze the car barn of the Edgewood trolley line was damaged by fire, entailling a loss of $1000.
