CORPSE SHE IDENTIFIED BY MARKS IS NOT HUSBAND'S

Tattooing, Scar, Crooked Finger and Clothing Similar

Special to The Inquirer.

SCRANTON, Pa., Dec. 10.---Just before the hour for the funeral today, Mrs. Fred L. Williams, of West Lackawanna avenue, was informed that the corpse in her home was not that of her husband. Word was received from Chief of Police Hickey, of Hornell, N. Y. that her spouse was at that moment at work in the Erie shops there.

Mrs. Williams read of a man drowning in the Susquehanna River at Towando, Pa. The body had been removed to Ulster, N. Y., and she reached that municipality just as the body was being lowered into an unmarked grave. The coffin lid was removed and she "identified" the body by a tattoo mark, a scar over the left eye, a crooked finger and clothing.

The body still lacks identification.
