Fire In Progress

LARGE PORTION OF KANE, PA., BURNED.

CONFLAGRATION STARTED BY EXPLOSION OF GAS ENGINE -- THIRTY-TWO HORSES WERE CREMATED.

Bradford, Pa., March 27. -- The explosion of a gasoline engine last night caused a fire which destroyed a large part of the town of Kane, near here, entailing a loss of $84,000, with very little insurance. The blaze started in the livery stable of WICKHAM & JOHNSTON and cremated thirty-two horses in their stalls.
A dozen buildings were destroyed before the fire was controlled. Among the structures burned were the city hall and the Baptist church. Twenty roomers in MRS. JACOBSON'S boarding house lost all their belongings.
