NEW FLORENCE STATION WRECKED

Freight Cars Tear Away Entire Side of the Building

The P. R. R. station at New Florence was well-nigh destroyed, as a result of a freight wreck which occurred there at 4:30 this morning.

Some freight cars were being shifted from the eastbound track to another track when two of the cars left the rails.

They ploughed through the side of the station building, tearing away almost the entire side next the tracks, and demolishing the platform.

The building is of frame construction and in one end of it lives Station Agent Lynch and his family.. They were asleep when the crash came. The sides of two downstairs rooms were completely torn away but none of the family was hurt.

One end of the freight room was also torn away.

One of the cars was piled in a heap of wreckage near the mill, while another, also badly used up, stood across a siding.

The station was wrecked so such an extent that it will doubtless be replaced by a new one.
