ATHENS HIGH SCHOOL BURNS
Fire in Waste Paper Box Causes $75,000 Blaze
Special to The Inquirer.
TOWANDA, Pa., Feb. 15.---Fire starting in a waste paper box in the basement this evening, destroyed the high school building at Athens, entailing a loss of $75,000. It was a three-story brick structure erected in 1888. The firemen were handicapped by frozen hydrants.
A new fireproof annex to the building was damaged by the flames. The churches of the town will be used for school purposes until a new building is erected.
