Laporte Use It Instead of Water to Save Hotel

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa., March 31.---Men using snow instead of water today saved the Laporte Hotel at Laporte from destruction by fire. The borough owns a reel of hose, but when flames were seen coming from the windows of the hotel, nobody seemed to know where to locate the hose and ;men with shovels and buckets carried great quantities of snow into the building and after a half hour's hard work succeeded in extinguishing the fire.

In the meantime the search for the hoses had continued and connection was finally made to the nearest fireplug, but by that time the fire had been overcome. Some of the guests had to be removed from the upper stories with ladders. Sullivan county had four feet of snow, much of which remains.
