EXPLOSION WRECKS STEAMER.

THREE MEN DEAD, TWO MISSING, and SIX INJURED AT PITTSBURG.

Pittsburg, Oct. 13. -- A boiler of the Government boat SLACKWATER exploded late to-day completely wrecking the vessel, killing three men, injuring six others, and creating havoc in Lock No. 4, where the boat was lying. A derrick boat alongside the steamer and some construction work being done at the dam were heavily damaged.
The dead are JOHN BRADY, 35 years old.

The injured:
CLAYTON MORRIS of Elizabeth, Penn., engineer on the derrick boat, severely scalded and bruised.
CHARLES CAMPBELL, Economy, Penn., head crushed, arm broken, and severely scalded.
JOHN WEATHERLAND, Economy, severely scalded and bruised.
JOSEPH COOPER, engineer, of Elizabeth, Penn., bruised severely and scalded.
JOHN ROGERS of Pittsburg, severely scalded.
Man from Sewickley, name not given, slightly scalded and bruised.
Missing:
Two negroes, workmen about the boat, who are thought to be at the bottom of the Ohio River.
The cause of the explosion is not definitely known. One workman, who escaped, attributed it to the turning of cold water into the hot boiler.
