Faunce, PA Barn Fire, May 1932
Barn On Rube McDonald Farm, Near Faunce, Is Burned; Total Loss
A large barn located on the RUBE MCDONALD farm in Knox Township near Faunce, was burned to the groung by a fire which was discovered this morning about 12:00 o'clock.
the farm was occupied by HARRY ROWLES and part of the barn was used by PRICE ROWLES, who lives on the neighboring farm whose barn was also destroyed by fire several months ago.Several pieces of farm machinery were burned in the fire and MR. PRICE ROWLES lost about 40 bushels of grain and a mower.
Two cows, which had been chained in their stalls the night before, had been liberated and were saved from the fire. It was said today that the cows had been freed before any other known persons reached the fire after it was discovered, which led to the belief that someone had set fire to the building. A daughter of HARRY ROWLES discovered the blaze and before help could be summoned the flames had practically destroyed the building.
Neither party was able to set the amount of their loss, which was believed would run into several hundreds of dollars. It was practically covered by insurance.
