SEVEN INJURED IN AUTO CRASH
Seven persons were injured, one so seriously as to require his admission to the Hanover General hospital as a patient, and two cars were badly damaged in an accident near the Brush Run crossing on the Lincoln highway west of New Oxford, Saturday afternoon.
Maurice Herman, 23, New Oxford, driver of one of the cars, is in the Hanover hospital with a fracture of the left leg and cuts about the nose and right hand. His wife was treated at the hospital for lacerations of the right knee and forehead.
Their four year old son, Warren, received a gash in the upper lip and also was treated at the Hanover hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Warren, East Berhn R. 2. also occupants of the Herman car, were treated by Dr. Wilbur Miller, New Oxford, for cuts and bruises. Edward J. Long, New Oxford, sixth occupant of the Herman machine, was cut about the forehead and scalp.
The driver of the other machine, Leo A. Long, New Oxford, was treated by Officer R. C. Lightner of the Gettysburg detail of the state motor police who investigated the accident. He receives cuts and bruises of the forehead.
Long was driving toward New Oxford and is reported to have attempted to pass a bus headed in the same direction when he saw the Herman car approaching from the opposite direction. Long applied his brakes and his machine skidded on the icy road and struck the Herman machine. The Long car was demolished and damage to the Herman car was placed at about $300.
The investigating officer said he will charge Long before a nearby justice of the peace with driving to the left of the center of the highway.
