Philadelphia, PA Accidents, Aug 1880

Patrick Hawkins, aged forty years, residing No. 2604 Market street, had his hand badly mashed yesterday by having it caught in some machinery while engaged at work on Seventh street, below Arch. The sufferer was removed to the Pennsylvania Hospital.

A singular accident occurred to Charles Malloy, employed at the paint works of Charles H. Howell & Co., No. 212 Race street. He stood on one foot and raised the other to remove his shoe to put on his factory shoes. In the act of pulling he broke his leg above the knee. He was removed to the Pennsylvania Hospital.

About eight o'clock last evening an unknown boy about fifteen years old was drowned in the Delaware while bathing at Washington avenue wharf. The body was not recovered.
