Allentown, PA Railroad Car Fire, Dec 1900

PROPERTY LOSS HEAVY BY CAR BURNING.
Silks and Other Valuables to Extent of $25,000 in a Blaze.

ALLENTOWN, Pa., Dec. 22.----A United States express car, loaded with goods, was gutted by fire at the lower end of the Allentown Terminal Railroad. The car contained between $25,000 and $30,000 worth of goods, including a lot of silks shipped by the different Allentown mills.
All the good were consigned from Allentown, and on account of the holiday rush the car was unusually full. It is believed that the fire was caused by the explosion of a kerosene lamp.
