River Dragging Operations On For Donald Wade Of Houston Run

Dragging operations continued late this morning for the body of a 20 year-old- youth from Houston Run, near New Eagle, believed to have drowned in the middle of the Monongahela River yesterday afternoon.

The youth, Donald Wade, was swimming in the river near Houston Run when companions suddenly discovered be was missing.

When a quick search failed to turn up any trace of him, volunteer fire companies were called and dragging operations began. The swimming area is on the New Elrama Road, about two miles north of New Eagle.,

Dragging Continues.

Wade was last seen in the middle of the river, at 3 p.m. while apparently trying to swim across, according to Police Chief Pete Dragone of New Eagle. On shore and in the water at the river beach area were about 12 persons.

Wade's clothes lay on the beach and he was not at home this morning.

Still dragging late this morning were the New Eagle and Monongahela Fire departments.

Throughout the night dragging was conducted by a number of fire departments.

Operations were impeded by numerous snags in the river. The New Eagle department alone lost about 18 grappling hooks, it was reported.
