Schaefferstown PA area Storm, Jul 1875

A Labanon [sic], Pa., dispatch of the same date says: A terrific thunder-storm passed along the southern borders of this county last evening. At Schaefferstown the residences of Andrew Showers and Levi Sheetz were struck by lightning, the latter being entirely destroyed. The residence of Jacob Torrey, east of Schaefferstown, and his houses between that point and Brickerville were struck and partially destroyed. Trees were uprooted, fences destroyed, and grain swept clean to the ground for miles.
