Pittsburgh, PA Lightning Strike, Jun 1907
TOT SLUMBERED ON
Lightning Bolt Plays Harmlessly About Bed of Baby.
Pittsburg, Pa., June 14.---Irma Taylor, aged 2, the only daughter of Walter M. Taylor of 232 McIntyre avenue lay sleeping in her bed in the nursery on the top floor of the house when a bolt of lightning struck the chimney beside the cot. With a crash the deadly fluid burst through the roof, played about the head of the sleeping infant for a few seconds, and then continued down the chimney. Although little Irma had been within a few inches of death, she was not even awakened.
Mrs. Taylor, the mother, was in the room below. When the lightning struck the chimney, it raced down to the fireplace in front of Mrs. Taylor, hurled the brass front out into the room, and then continued to the cellar, where it was lost in the ground.
