Webster, PA Auto Accident, Aug 1917

LOSES EYE AS RESULT OF AN AUTO ACCIDENT

Louis Cholfont, of Donora, an employe[sic] of the Donara Construction company, was injured in an automobile accident in Webster Wednesday evening, and as a result had to have his left eye removed a few hours later at the Memorial hospital in Monongahela.

Cholfont and a number of other workmen were on their way home from Monessen, where they are employed by the Donora Construction company in improvement and repair work on the Monessen streets. When the car reached Webster, it skidded and went over the bank, Cholfont being thrown through the windshield. A piece of the broken glass penetrated his left eye, and he was at once taken to the hospital, where it was found necessary to remove it, the operation being performed by Dr. Lynch. The water boy, who was a member of the party, was thrown about twenty-five feet when the auto went over, but escaped without injuries. The car was considerably damaged.
