Fire at Chambersburg.

The Flames Subdued After Much Damage is Done.—Some of the Students Lose all Their Possessions.

A fire at Wilson college, Chambersburg, last Tuesday morning, destroyed the third floor of the original building, known as the main building and a portion of the roof of the small wing which connects it with the large wing west of it. The second floor was badly damaged by water, while the first floor under the burned sections was flooded with water. A number of the students lost all their possessions, including money; others lost part of their clothing and the furniture of their rooms through fire, while many articles were broken, some things were carried away and much saved was thrown into a confused heap and will require careful sorting to be restored to the owners.
The loss cannot yet be accurately estimated but will amount to about $45,000.
The building was fully covered by insurance.
