LINEMAN KILLED; FIRST FATALITY IN 12 YEARS

THOMAS DAVIN Electrocuted While Working on a West Penn Pole Near Footedale.

THOMAS DAVIN was electrocuted yesterday afternoon at Footedale while working on a West Penn pole carrying a high tension line. It was the first fatality in twelve years under the direction of Wm. M. Rogers, Superintendent of Line Construction, and Patrick Connelly, foreman. The accident occurred on a hilltop and the supposition is that the high wind brought Davin in contact with the high power line.
The first aid corps from the H. C. Frick plant at Footedale, Dr. P. F. Smith of Uniontown and Dr. Davidson of New Salem were summoned. Although the first aid crews were at work with pulmotor a minutes after Davin’s body had received the shock, he could not be revived. The body was brought to Connellsville and was prepared for burial by Funeral Director J. L. Stader and today was removed to the family residence at Brookvale. Requiem high mass will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church Monday morning at 9 o’clock. Interment in St. Joseph’s cemetery.
Mr. Davin was born in Ireland and was 40 years old. He was a son of John E. Davin and was born in Ireland. His mother died last January and a brother, Michael, was killed two days before the Duquesne wreck. His father and the following brothers and sisters survive: Christ A. Davin, of Brownsville, John B., James and Jeter and Mrs. Thomas Grace, at home, Mrs. B. T. Connelly of Brookvale and Mrs. John Kelly of Tower Hill.
Coronor H. J. Bell was in town this morning and after investigating the accident appointed the following jury: J. B. Kurtz, H. K. Berlin, M. B. Pryce, S. S. Clark, Kent Clifton and J. L. Stader. The date for holding the inquest was not set.
