Germantown, PA Horse Accident, May 1870

Child Run Over by a Horse at Germantown.

On Tuesday evening a little girl named Briggs, residing at Germantown, a suburb of this village, was run over by a horse driven by Dr. E. Crundall, veterinary surgeon. Mr. Abram Elston picked up the girl and took her home. She received a severe flesh wound on one of her thighs, and was otherwise injured. Dr. Crundall was arrested on a charge of fast driving, and was fined $15. In justice to Dr. Crundall it is necessary to state that the accident was unavoidable on his part and he was ignorant of our village laws against fast driving. He alleges that his horse was unruly and spirited. He was referred by the Justice to the Trustees.
