Artist Fatally Burned.

Philadelphia, Jan. 3.-ULRICH AUGUSTUS HOEGGER, a Swiss artist, was probably fatally burned in a fire which ruined his studio in the northern section of the city and destroyed paintings said to be worth $100,000. HOEGGER went into the studio, which is in the rear of his home, and a few minutes later fire was discovered. When neighbors and members of the artist's family went to the room they found HOEGGER unconscious, suffering from burns about the head and face. He had inhaled smoke and is in a precarious condition in a hospital. HOEGGER is well known as a portrait painter. Among his best known works is a pictured call "Verstummt," which has been widely reproduced.
