CAR BARN BURNS AT PITTSBURG.

Pittsburg, Pa., July 24.---At an early hour this morning the car barn of the Consolidated Traction at Frankstown and Pennsylvania avenue was completely gutted by fire, entailing a loss of about $175,000, well covered by insurance. The flames originated in some mysterious manner in the paint shop, and before the employes[sic] and firemen could clear the barn thirty-six of the fifty cars in the building were destroyed. Nothing but the walls of the building remain.

Pittsburg's Fire Ate Up Two Hundred Thousand Dollars Worth of Property

Special to The Inquirer.

PITTSBURG, July 24.---The fire which began in the Frankstown avenue car barn and shops of the Consolidated Traction Company after last midnight destroyed about $200,000 worth of property. Forty-eight motor and passenger cars stored on the second floor of the building were burned. In the car shops was being built at a cost of five thousand dollars a private car intended for the use of trolley parties. This was burned.

The jewelry store of A. A. Gels, on Frankstown avenue, adjoining the car barn, was destroyed. Mr. Gels and his wife were taken from the building unconscious. The flames did not spread beyond this building.
