Philadelphia, PA Abandoned House Collapses, May 1906

THREE BOYS HURT WHEN HOUSE FELL

Were Playing on Third Floor of Abandoned Building When It Collapsed.

While three boys, ranging about fifteen years of age, were playing yesterday afternoon on the third floor of an abandoned house at Nineteenth and Hunting Park avenue, the structure, which had been partially demolished, collapsed and threw them together with bricks and timbers to the cellar below.

The noise of falling material and the cries of the boys attracted the attention of passers by and a crowd quickly collected, while Policeman Nice, of the Park and Lehigh Avenues Station house, together with several bystanders, extricated the imprisoned boys from the debris.

It was found upon examination that they had sustained no more serious injuries than cuts and bruises. They were Harry Schimpf, of 2415 Dennie street, and Fred Alburger and John Hennessy, who lived next door to him.
