Explosive Kills Man on Birthday

Special to The Inquirer.

YORK, Pa., Aug. 17.---Alawese Gruver, of Davidsburg, former County Commissioner and a candidate for Poor Director, was instantly killed today, his seventy-fourth birthday, by an explosion of dynamite while supervising work on a township road. Mr. Gruver and J. A. Gross, a workman, were watching the fuse attached to the explosive under a big rock, but the former did not get away to safety in time.
