MALONE, N. Y., Sept. 14---Melville Scranton and Paul Shuelte, of East Saginaw, Mich., were drowned in Tupper Lake. The had come to Tupper Lake village on business. When they started to return across the lake a high wind was blowing and waves were running high. When but a short distance from shore the boat was overturned, and the men went to the bottom. Two men went to their rescue, supposing they would rise to the surface, but they did not. The bottom of the lake is filled with flood wood and they must have become entangled in it after striking the bottom. Scranton leaves a wife and four children.
