WILLIAMSPORT, Pa., Sept. 9.---A peculiar accident occurred at the tannery at Ralston yesterday resulting in the death of one of the expert workmen of the plant, JOHN SCHIMMELFLING, whose body was found last evening beneath a pile of hides.

As he was passing one of the huge stacks of hides waiting for the chemical process that turns them into leather toppled over upon SCHIMMELFLING, who died a lingering and awful death, being unable to move make himself heard.
