Falling Rock Kills Two Men In Sand Patch Tunnel

Negro Laborers Crushed to Death and Third Man Injured in Accident on Friday Afternoon.

The bodies of two unfortunate men, Samuel COLLINS and A. ALLEN, both colored, who lost their lives in the new tunnel being constructed by the B. & O. railroad at Sand Patch, were brought last evening to the morgue of R Reich & Son at Meyersdale and prepared for burial. Three men were caught under a large rock which fell from the roof. Two were killed instantly and it is believed that one, though seriously injured, will recover.

The two men killed, both colored, were Sam COLLINS, aged 37, of Birmingham, Ala., and A. ALLEN, aged 43, of Raleigh, N. C. The former was buried in the Union Cemtery (sic) today, but no arrangements have yet been made for the funeral of the latter.
