GIRL TUMBLES TO DEATH AT CARNIVAL; 2 ARE HELD.

Dallastown (AP) -- Two carnival workers face charges of involuntary manslaughter today in the death of a 12-year-old York girl who tumbled head-first from the front car of a roller-coaster.
Police filed the charges over the weekend aginst BILLY JOHNSON of Lehighton, operator of the roller-coaster, and JOHN ROYAL of Cincinnati, Ohio, his helper.
CAROL E. RUTH, daughter of Mrs. Edith Ruth of York, was killed in the mishap Saturdaya night during a fair here. Another girl, DARLENE EINSIG,
13, of York, was also tossed from the car.
She suffered multiple cuts and bruises and was admitted to York Hospital in serious condition.
Police contended that ROYAL apparently pulled the starting lever of the roller-coster before JOHNSON, had finished adjusting the safety belts of the two girls. The sudden jolt pitced the youngsters from the car, offices said.
JOHNSON was released on $2,500 bond, while ROYAL was jailed in lieu of a smilar bail.
