PLAINS MINE CAVES CAUSE OF DAMAGE TO TWO DWELLINGS
Mine caves along the North Main street, Plains, today caused considerable damage to two homes on that thoroughfare. The houses of James Lindsey and Archibald Mahon were tipped from their foundations by the cave. Each house moved about four inches. Members of both families were in the houses at the time, but no one was injured although furniture and pictures in the rooms were moved from their places.
The caving is over the operations of the Conlon Coal Company, but it is not extensive. As soon as the cracks in the surface were noticed, men were sent into the mine under the affected section and did everything possible to bolster up the surface to prevent further caving. It is believed that the worst of the danger is over.
