Warren, PA Barn Fire, Jun 1908

Barn Burned Friday Night.

The barn on the farm of the late James Miller, known as the St. Clair farm, was burned to the ground Friday night, with all its contents, including a team of fine work horses.

The fire was discovered between 9 and 10 o'clock and was well under way before it was discovered. Of course, there could nothing be done to save the building and every effort was put forth to save the animals and some machinery.

One horse was saved and another gotten out but it was so badly burned that it had to be shot to end its misery. The grain, hay, buggy, four sets of harness, chickens, etc, were burned, entailing a loss of not less than $1,500, on which there is but a small insurance.

The origin of the fire is a mystery, as there had not even been a light about the barn for the past six weeks. It must have been the work of an incendiary.

Mrs. Della Little and her daughters now own the farm, while the stock and farming implements and machinery belonged to the mother and sons by a former marriage. Mrs. Little is an aunt of Mr. Little, an employe[sic] of the J. M. Stewart Hardware company.
