Montgomery, PA Bridge Collapses, June 1937

TWO ARE KILLED AS BRIDGE FALLS.
BRIDGE OVER SUSQUEHANNA NEAR WILLIAMSPORT COLLAPSES TODAY.
REPAIR WORK WAS UNDER WAY.
BULLETIN.
Williamsport, Pa., June 19 -- (INS) -- Two persons were killed today when a bridge collapsed into the Susquehanna Rover at nearby Montgomery.
The dead were identified as CLIFFORD MILLER and RAYMOND J. HILL, both of Montgomery.
The bridge, condemned by the state highway department as a result of last year's floods, had been closed. Six of the nine spans collapsed, believed to have been caused by vibrations set up by air compressor drills being used in repairing the structure.
The highways department announced it had launched an investigation into the collapse.
