Inglis, OR Fire Wipes Out Village, June 1910
BIG FIRE WIPES OUT VILLAGE IN OREGON.
Portland, Or., June 1. -- Passengers arrived here on the Astoria and Columbia River Railroad from Astoria early today state that the village of Inglis, about fifty miles down the Columbia river from here was practically wiped out late last night by fire. The saw mill and yards of the Oregon Lumber Company were destroyed and six houses had burned when the train succeeded in getting by the village. The fire was at that time still burning furiously. The loss, it is stated, will run well in to the thousands of dollars. Telegraph and telephone wires are down and it is impossible to learn any other particulars concerning the fire.
