25 ARE DEAD MANY HURT BY TORNADO.

TOWNS IN TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA SWEPT AWAY.

HAVOC IS WIDESPREAD IN CITIES ALONG BORDER.

Denison, Tex., May 20. -- Kemp City, Okla., was reported wiped out with the loss of several lives by a tornado that swept a portion of the Oklahoma-Texas border tonight. Carpenters Bluff, 25 miles east of here, suffered severe damage, according to reports here.
LUTHER COX, a storekeeper at Kemp City, rode five miles on horseback to Carpenters Bluff to obtain aid for Kemp City. He said not a building in Kemp City was left standing after the storm passed. COX believed at least eighteen were dead and a number badly injured. He said he saw a number of dead in the streets. His own home and store were carried away, and the bank building razed in an instant when the storm struck.
A special train of one coach and a baggage car left here shortly before midnight carrying four physicians and a number of nurses to the stricken district. Automobile relief parties that attempted to reach Carpenters Bluff were compelled to turn back because of impassable roads.
The daughter of DR. A. E. McCULLOUGH of Carpenters Bluff was reported killed. No other fatalities were definitely reported from that point, though unconfirmed rumors were that eight lost their lives.
