EXPLOSION IN MINE ENTOMBS TWO MINERS

Cause of Accident at McAlester Cannot Be Determined Now.

McALESTER, Okla. Oct. 19---Max Bordersen and James Cornelius, white men, shot-firers in mine No. 6. of the McAlister Coal & Coke Company, at Buck, are supposed to be dead in the mine as the result of an explosion. The cause of the explosion can not be determined.

John Antonelli, another sot-firer, was coming from the mine and experienced a painful shock, but did not hear the sound of the explosion. There was no fire and the extent of the damages to the mine has not been determined yet.

The entombed men may be anywhere from a few hundred feet to half a mile from the bottom of the shaft, which is 590 feet deep.

ENTOMBED MINERS ARE NOT RESCUED

McAlester, Okla, Oct. 19.---(Special.)---The two shot-firers who were imprisoned in Buck mine No. 6 of the McAlester Coal Mining company by an explosion yesterday evening were Max Bordensen and James Cornelius. John Antonelli escaped with little injury. Rescue parties have now worked twenty-four hours digging into the closed passageways trying to reach the men. There is no hope of finding them alive.

BODIES OF MINERS BROUGHT TO SURFACE.

McAlester, Okla., Oct. 20.---(Special.)---The bodies of James Cornelius and Max Bordensen, who were killed by an explosion in a coal mine at Buck Tuesday, were recovered today. That of Cornelius was found below the fourth handing and was not disfigured. He probably died of suffocation. That of Bordensen was located under a rock and was taken out at 7 o'clock this evening.
