Hardest hit by the tornadoes was Holdenville in East Central Oklahoma, where five died. Of 2 persons still hospitalized there Saturday four were in critical condition. They are Wiley Brittain, 50; Mrs. Alice Hawthorne, 77; Mrs. Mae Mac, 51, and Mrs. Violet Flowers, 43.

Perhaps the hardest hit town Friday was Holdenville, in East Central Oklahoma. The Red Cross had reported five dead and 100 injured there. But newsmen could account for only three dead. They said many persons had been taken to hospitals with only minor injuries.

The dead at Holdenville included a boy tentatively identified as 15-year-old GENE WALKER.

Hughes County Red Cross director reported the toll of five dead and 100 injured at Holdenville. He said both Holdenville hospitals were jammed with injured and several were sent to Wewoka. Others were taken to the National Guard Armory.

Ambulances, fire equipment, portable power units, nurses and doctors and National Guardsmen were rushed to Holdenville from nearby towns.

In Oklahoma City, the highway patrol said troopers at Holdenville reported the wind cut a swath of destruction six blocks wide and eighteen blocks long in the northwest section. All power lines and some telephone lines were reported down.

At Holdenville, the twister killed a boy tentatively identified as 15-year-old GENE WALKER.

Deputy Sheriff Hughes martin of Holdenville, an East Central Oklahoma Town, reported “They say nearly every house in the northeast section is damaged or destroyed. Many persons are hurt.”
