MIDDLE POINT IS SWEPT BY FIRE.

BUSINESS SECTION OF VILLAGE IS PRACTICALLY WIPED OUT BY CONFLAGRATION.

Delphos, O., Aug. 3. -- Fire at Middle Point that started at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in a barn on the premises of REV. W. E. STREETE, pastor of the United Brethren church, spread rapidly and within three hours sixteen structures were destroyed, including barns owned by W. E. STREETE, ROBERT GAMBLE, MRS. KERSHAW, MRS. DANIEL NORMAN, the L. N. SHECKLER barber shop, FOSTER & ASKIN'S restaurant and pool room, the P. Ft. W. & C. R. R. depot, A. A. MANSHIP'S grocery, the post office, MRS. DANIEL NORMAN'S restaurant, and undertaker's office and the exchange of the Middle Point Telephone company.
The Delphos and Van Wert fire departments were hurried to the little town, which lies half way between Delphos and Van Wert, and possibly prevented the flames from wiping out the town.
The estimated loss will total $40,000 with less than one-third that amount of insurance. A. A. MANSHIP is the heaviest loser.
