JUMPED TRACK; ONE MAN DIES.

CAR GOING DOWN STEEP CINCINNATI GRADE, GOES OVER AN EMBANKMENT.

FILLED WITH PASSENGERS.

ONLY THREE OR FOUR HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO ESCAPE -- HEAVY TRUCKS CRASHED THROUGH BOTTOM OF THE CAR INJURING MANY -- POLICE ON HAND EARLY TO OBTAIN PHOTOGRAPHS OF ACCIDENT.

Cincinnati, Oct. 16. -- One man was killed, six persons were dangerously injured and probably twenty-five others slightly hurt today when an Elberon Avenue car jumped the track, and went over a 25-foot embankment, at Mount Hope, in the western end of the city. Attorney HARRY H. BAUSCH was taken from the wreckage badly injured and died before he could be taken to the hospital. It is feared that some of the injured may also die.
The Elberon Avenue line skirts the southern section of Price Hill, having a steep grade around Mount Hope. As the car was coming down the grade, the motorman lost control of the car, which jumped the track soon afterwards, apparently striking a bad rail, going clear across the street and over the bank. It landed upside down at the foot and the heavy trucks crashed through the car, a number of those most seriously hurt being caught in the car.
The car was crowded and only three or four jumped before the accident so that the entire carload went over the bank and nearly everyone was more or less seriously hurt.
The pollice, under orders from the mayor and prosecuting attorney, took charge of the wreck, preventing its removal until photographs could be taken and other data secured, showing the cause of the accident.
The seriously injured are:
MISS BESSIE POWELL, hip broken and internally injured.
CASPER VOGT, internally injured.
MISS HELEN HALL, internally injured.
MISS LILLY J. HUST, leg and arm hurt and internal injuries.
CHARLES LOCKHARD, salesman, legs crushed and internal injuries.
BENJAMIN EISENSTEIN, painter, right shoulder and right leg injured.
MISS EVELYN McCOAL, leg hurt.
MISS MARY CROW, bruised and cut.
