TERRIFIC BOILER EXPLOSION

Five Persons Reported Killed in a Jelly Factory at Montville, O.

CHARDON, O., Sept 19. – A report has reached this city of the killing of three men at Montville, ten miles from here. The boiler at Vansises’ jelly factory exploded with terrific force, entirely demolishing the building. There is no telegraph connection with Montville, and no particulars can be learned. Later report says that two little girls were among the killed. They were playing in a buggy near the factory.

Aberdeen Daily News, Aberdeen, SD 19 Sept 1891

The Wheeling Register of the same date lists the factory as Van Size’s Jelly Factory.
