Copley, OH Bull Accident, Jul 1877

James Hammond Badly Hurt.

Wadsworth Enterprise, July 4.

A serious accident took place last Monday in Copley, resulting in the serious injury of our old friend, James Hammond. He was showing a very fine blooded bull to some stock men, and for that purpose led him out of the stall with the leading stick. The animal was regarded gentle, and had never resisted before, but on this occasion it dove at Mr. Hammond, striking him to the ground, and commenced goring him in a desperate manner. The men present succeeded in rescuing him, but found him badly bruised about the body and limbs. J. D. Reimer, of this place, was among the spectators, and was the first to seize Mr. Hammond and release him from his perilous situation.
