Seven Killed In Wreck.

Big Four Train Hits Trolley Car at West Toledo Crossing.

Toledo, Ohio, Feb. 15.- Seven dead and eleven injured, two of whom probably will die, was the result of a crash on the West Toledo Crossing of the Michigan Central Railroad and the Toledo and Western Traction Line late to-night, in which a traction car was demolished by Big Four passenger train 810. The dead are:
JAMES MEYERS, Motorman of the car, Toledo.
MRS. CLARENCE BEECH, Sylvania, Ohio.
Two children of Mr. and Mrs. BEECH.

The injured are Mayor JONES of Sylvania; Mrs. JONES, wife of the Mayor of Sylvania; CLARA SEXTON, Trilby, Ohio; JOE BOCHMEYER, Trilby, Ohio, probably will die; CHARLES DOLPH, Sylvania, Ohio; GEORGE BRAGDON, Toledo, Ohio, probably will die; BURT BLANKLEY, Sylvania, Ohio, serious, possibly fatally injured; HIRAM PARKER, Sylvania, Ohio.

According to an eyewitness of the wreck, which occurred shortly after 8 o’clock, the conductor stopped at the crossing to flag the car across. Seeing the train coming, he motioned to the motorman to stop, but the signal was either misunderstood, unseen or disregarded, for the car came ahead with sickening results.

All the ambulances in the city were hastily summoned, and the scene of the wreck was soon thronged with excited people, impeding rather than aiding in the work of rescue.

Mrs. FISHER was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital, where she died. Eight of the injured were also received there.
