West Wheeling, OH Train Wreck, Jun 1906
SPECIAL TRAIN IN WRECK.
General Superintendent of the Baltimore & Ohio Shaken Up.
BRIDGEPORT, Ohio, June 18.---A head-on collision to-day at West Wheeling, a mile south of Bridgeport, between the special train of General Superintendent Loree of the Baltimore & Ohio and a heavily loaded ore train, resulted in serious injury to six men and slight injuries to half a dozen others.
Engineer William Scott of the special will die, and Fireman Frank Davidson may die.
The error of a train dispatcher in the Wheeling office is said to have caused the trains to come together while going at a high rate of speed. A heavy fog prevented the trainmen from seeing lights until too late.
The New York Times, New York, NY 16 Jun 1906
