RAILROAD WRECKS.

NARROW ESCAPE OF PASSENGERS ON THE MACKINAW ROAD.

DAYTON, Ohio, Jan. 18.---A frightful wreck occurred on the Mackinaw Road this morning near Germantown, Ohio. As train No.1, in charge of Conductor Pierce, was rounding a sharp curve near the farm of Samuel Sliver, Jr., and near a high trestlework, the track spread and the baggage and smoking car left the track. They ran about 200 yards on the ties, when the coupling broke and the smoker was thrown from the track at right angles with it. The baggage car was carried fully 100 yards further, where it went over the trestle, a distance of 20 feet. The car was completely demolished, though, strange to say, none of the occupants of the car were killed. Harry Gay, express messenger and baggage master, was severely cut and bruised about the head and face. J. A. Garber, brakeman, had both feet and legs crushed. All the passengers received a good shaking up, and a number were badly cut and bruised.
