KILLED AT THE CROSSING.

A Street Car Struck by a Train and Two Persons Fatally Injured.

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 13.---Passenger train No. 12 on the Panhandle Railroad struck a street car containing several persons at Union street crossing in Newark this evening, fatally injuring J. S. Smarts, proprietor of the Newark Paper Mill, and Mrs. Elizabeth Shultz. The latter's ten year old boy, Carl, was saved by the coolness of Dr. E. S. Brown, who threw the little fellow out of his window on teh approach of danger. The car was smashed to pieces.
