Summit County, OH Tornado, Apr 1890

CLEVELAND, April 9.---A telegram today from Akron says: The first regular tornado ever known in this county struck Springfield township last night. The storm moved from northeast to southwest, and in a path ten rods wide, utterly demolishing everything it met. It struck the house of A. P. Jones. Eighty rods from Jones' house was the two story house of Scott Sweitzer and five barns and sheds. The storm demolished every building leaving not a timber standing. Mr. Sweitzer, his wife and two children were thrown into the cellar when the house went down and escaped injury.
