Locomotives Derailed and Buried Under Freight Cars.

Five Lives Crushed Out Near Hamilton.

Hamilton, O., June 4.--- Five lives were put out in an unusual accident on the Cincinnati, Hamilton and Indianapolis railroad at McGonigle's Station, eight miles west of this city. The dead: Fireman TIM MAHONEY, 25, Hamilton, Brakeman Starkey, 22, Rushville, Ind.; Ambrose Smith, 21, Hamilton; unknown man; unknown boy. Engineer Clover sustained severe bruises. The accident occurred to eastbound freight No. 93, Indianapolis to Cincinnati. The train contained 28 heavily loaded cars and was bowling along at 25 miles an hour, when the engine left the track at switch, and plunging ahead two or three rods, turned over. The momentum of the train pushed several cars past the engine and piled them up. Eleven cars were derailed, five of which contained cattle and hogs. Scores of animals were killed. The unknown parties were stealing a ride. The property loss is $5,000.

Hamilton, O., June 4.---A curious and gruesome coincidence in connection with the wreck at McGonigle station, by which five men were killed and others seriously injured, is the fact that one car of the train loaded with undertaker's supplies was smashed to pieces and a number of shrouds scattered around the track among the kill-[sic] and wounded.
