Celina, OH House Fire, Jan 1904
THREE CHILDREN ARE CREMATED
FATHER AND MOTHER FATALLY BURNED WHILE TRYING TO RESCUE THEM FROM THE FIRE.
CELINA, O., Jan. 26 – The most horrible fire that has ever visited this section in years totally destroyed a farm residence near Rockford last night, occupied by HENRY FRYSINGER and his family. In the ruins are the charred remains of FRYSINGER'S three young children. MR. AND MRS. FRYSINGER are in a critical condition. The fire, which is supposed to have started in an ash barrel in the summer kitchen, aided by the high winds, soon spread to the main house and had made such headway when discovered that the attempts of MR. AND MRS. FRYSINGER to save their children were futile, although neither left the home until carried out by neighbors. The children, ELNORA, aged 13, GEORGE, aged 10, and ELVA, 6 years old, occupied rooms on the second floor and perished without knowing the danger they were in. CHARLES CHILLCOTT, who was also sleeping in the second story was badly burned, and saved himself from the fire by jumping from a window, but was frozen so badly while spreading the alarm among the neighbors that his life is despaired of. Two latest advices state that both MR. AND MRS. FRYSINGER are in such a critical condition from being burned, and exposure to the terrible weather that neither are expected to recover. The bodies of the children have not been found.
