ENGINEER ON THE B. & O. SOUTH-WESTERN LOSES HIS LIFE.

East Bound Passenger Crashes Into a Freight and Passengers Are Shaken Up.

CINCINNATI, O., Jan. 29. -- In a head on collision between an eastbound passenger train and a westbound freight train at Culloms station, five and a half miles from the Cincinnati Union station on the main line of the Baltimore & Ohio Southwestern railroad, at 9:20 o'clock last night, one man was killed and one was probably fatally injured. The passenger train was a local from St. Louis. It was an hour late and was making up time when the accident occurred. The freight was outbound for Louisville and with the orders it had, should have given the passenger train the clear track. J. H. MUSTOCK, of Washington, Ind., engineer of the passenger train, was crushed in his cab and instantly killed. JOHN THOMPSON, of Cincinnati, fireman on the passenger train, had his skull fractured and is supposed to be fatally injured. The crew of the freight train jumped and escaped injury. The passengers were badly shaken up, but none seriously injured.
