THE FIRST TRAIN REACHES LA RUE

Carries Twenty-Five Sacks of Mail to That Village.

La Rue, O., March 31.---[Special.]---With the flooded conditions here practically over, with the exception of the river being a little high and a few pools in the low places, business men and residents are busily engaged cleaning up their homes and stores. The damage done to bridges is being reapired[sic] as rapidly as possible, the Dickerson bridge, on the Big Four, having been placed in shape Sunday. The first train reached La Rue Sunday night, bringing twenty-five sacks of mail.

Ray and C. C. Clark and John Whitman, brothers of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Whitman, of Dayton, received a telegram, Sunday morning, stating that the Whitman family was safe, but destitute as a result of the flood. The men left for Dayton, Sunday, to bring the Whitman family to La Rue. A sister of John Whitman, who also resided in Dayton, has not been heard from.

It was reported last week that during the flooded condition at La Rue, twins were born to Mr. and Mrs. Everett, when it should have been Mr. and Mrs. William Wiley.
