Stewartsville, OH Home Explosion, Apr 1944

SIX DIE AFTER HOME IS FIRED BY EXPLOSION.
Bellaire, O., April 17 -- (AP) -- An exploding cook stove wiped out a family of six at Stewartsville, 10 miles west of here, Coroner CLYDE HARDESTY reported today.
The dead were:
DENVER EARLEY, 40.
BESSIE EARLEY, 38, his wife.
JAMES, 7.
MARTHA and CARL, both 5.
HOWARD EARLEY, 63, father of DENVER.
HARDESTY said the explosion occurred late yesterday as DENVER poured a can of kerosene into the stove to ignite a fire. The explosion ripped the stove apart and showered the room with flame, he said.
Neighbors dragged the six from the room and a single ambulance took them to the Bellaire hospital, where they all died during the night.
