ENGINEER RHODES IS KILLED IN STATION

IS CAUGHT IN A SHAFTING AND HIS BODY IS TERRIBLY CRUSHED AND MANGLED.

Herald Special Service.

Lisbon, N. D., Feb. 16.-N. H. RHODES, aged 70 years, who for six months had charge of the Northern Pacific pumping station at this place, met with a terrible accident today, which resulted in his death a short time later. In some way, RHODES' jacket was caught in the main shaft of the engine room, and before the machinery could be stopped he had been terribly crushed, many bones being broken, and his death followed within a few minutes.

MR. RHODES had been a locomotive engineer for forty years, and had been employed by the Northern Pacific for half that period. Owing to his age, he was transferred to this city six months ago and placed in charge of the pumping station.
