DAMAGE DONE BY A FIRE

PROBABLY $400 DAMAGE WAS DONE IN THE HOME OF E. E. RORAPAUGH ON SOUTH SIXTH STREET.

A fire which started on the second floor of E. E. Rorapaugh’s residence at 409 South Sixth street, shortly after 6 o’clock last night, did damage of $400 or more. The fire started in an unoccupied room on the second floor, and was discovered by Dr. Ekern, who lives on the opposite side of the street. Mr. Rorapaugh telephoned in the alarm, but some misunderstanding at the Northwestern office made a second call necessary, and resulted in a slight delay, but the department did efficient work, and the fire was extinguished by use of chemicals and there was no damage from water. The furnishings of the rooms and the walls and ceilings were damaged, the fire buring (sic) its way through to the roof. The damage may amount to more than Mr. Rorapaugh’s estimate. He carried insurance.
